Summary

Wall Street Journal bestselling author Nicole Snow returns with a steamy and electrifying standalone romance thriller where one ginormous protector goes all-in to win Miss Unlucky。

You know the drill。 Big hands, big feet, humongous—
Yikes。 We're not going there for the thousandth time。
I've got small-town problems aplenty and zero time for Paxton “Alaska” Charter。
Crushing on smokeshow men with caveman vibes can't end well。

Sure, he saved my little coffee shop from total ruin once。
Yes, my ovaries melt watching single dad of the century with his little boy。
Of course, I'd sleep like a baby if I let him work his former SEAL hero magic on my mess。
That's not why I'm freaking out。

Nobody told me how devastatingly kind Alaska can be。
Or the fact that his stubborn heart's even more guarded than mine。
If he comes barreling into my life, it's certain doom。
And it's all thrown to the wind the day his kiss claims me。

We have to say goodbye。 Right now。 Before it's too late。
He can't keep sheltering my body, stealing my heart, and igniting my soul。
I won't drag this gentle giant down my abyss of ugly secrets。
But Alaska has other plans—and they scare me。
Because they all involve impossible happily ever afters, no matter the cost。

Full-length small-town standalone romance heaven。 The butterflies come in force when one large and in-charge single dad steps in to rescue the girl who abandoned all hope and forgot how to love。

Of The Mire Her Father Left Behind。 Don't Forget To Download The Free Flash Forward Via The Link At The End Of The Book! The Heroes of Heart's Edge series is back with a new but familiar hero and a new mystery in book seven。 Alaska Charter, Holt Silverton’s construction foreman and newcomer to Heart’s Edge, gets his very own story as he joins the band of local heroes。 This time the story revolves around Morgan Randall’s death ten years earlier and the danger his daughter Felicity inherited。 Paisley Lockwood is getting impatient, and the pressure is mounting。 Book six of the series, No White Knight, introduces Alaska。 Felicity owns the Nest and has been a local staple。 Some of her story is touched upon in book six as well; she is best friends with Libby Silverton。 ABOUT THE HEROES OF HEART’S EDGE SERIES:This book is part of the Heroes of Heart's Edge series。 Heart's Edge is a small town near Missoula, Montana in which peculiar things have a habit of happening。 Each book is rich with the history of the town, familiar haunts, and continuing glances at favorite characters。 Each is a complex love story between well-defined characters and set in the midst of a new trouble plaguing the town and its heroes as history has a way of resurfacing。 Crush at first sight develops into a deep love amidst danger and suspense。 These smart books are beautifully written and packed with everything - mystery, suspense, danger, broken characters, and a heartfelt love story。 Each may be read perfectly as stand-alone, but knowing the complex histories certainly adds to the enjoyment。To review, in book one, Warren Ford and Haley fall in love while battling a drug runner。 Warren finds closure in the death of his sister, Jenna。 In book two, Doc Gray, the local vet and most eligible bachelor, gets taken off the market by his new assistant Ember。 They face danger as Gray's former employer, Galentron, a research company with a hushed local history, comes back into town and plays dirty。 Book three sees the legend of Nine turn into a local hero following years in hiding after killing a man and escaping from jail。 Nine turns out to be Warren and Blake's old childhood friend Leo, a。k。a。 Tiger, and he worked with Doc at Galentron a decade ago when it all burned down。 It is a heartbreaking story in which Leo earns redemption and his HEA with long lost love, Clarissa。 Book four is Blake Silverton and Peace Rabe's story。 It opened in January, and Heart's Edge had been quiet since Leo's story in autumn。 Blake is a military veteran, Fire and Rescue Chief, radio call-in line host, and welder。 He likes to keep busy, even if his military pension covers his living expenses。 He has a limp from a war injury that sometimes slows him down。 Blake's sixteen year old Andrea is a handful and as a single dad Blake struggles。 When free spirit Peace Rabe comes through town, Blake finally finds love, but an arsonist determined to burn the town down threatens his HEA。 Book five is shorter and takes place largely outside of Heart's Edge, but it is an important story about a character with a sordid history in Heart's Edge。 Ice queen Fuchsia Delaney's story is finally told, and she has had her reasons for turning off her emotions。 Her story has parallels to Leo's, which is steeped in Galentron history。 Her tearful story finally gets her a hard-earned happy ending with Oliver Major, although it would be lovely down the road to get a bigger and bolder HEA for the couple。 In book six, Blake’s older brother Holt Silverton leaves New York and the fast lane behind in order to mend some fences and start over。 He bring his construction company back to town, helping the locals to rebuild。 Soon Hellion Libby Potter gets in the way of a land deal too good to be true。 Danger abounds, and love blossoms in its midst。IN THIS BOOK:This book opens in the springtime after nearly a year of relative quiet in Heart’s Edge。Paxton “Alaska” Charter is a giant of a man。 He may look intimidating, but he is as harmless as a teddy bear。 He has returned to Heart’s Edge, this time with his twelve year old son, Eli。 He had left Eli with his parents in Fairbanks the summer before, when he followed his boss Holt Silverton from New York to Heart’s Edge。 The small town has a reputation for danger, so he had left Eli behind initially; now he is considering putting down roots in the town。 With any luck, things will work out。 Alaska had wanted a simple life – a family and a white picket fence。 Things never go his way, though。 His ex-wife turned out to be a terror, so he divorced and took custody of his son。 The one time Navy SEAL’s subsequent attempt to get ahead financially ended disastrously, and he has taken work where he can find it in the years since。 He is trying to save a nest egg to ensure a happy life for him and Eli。 His whole world is centered on his son – he hasn’t looked at women in a very long time。 A certain coffee lady in Heart’s Edge caught his attention, but he never seriously considered pursuing anything。 Felicity Randall is well known by the locals of Heart’s Edge。 She runs The Nest, the local coffee and pastry hot spot。 She has taken the business she took over from her parents and made it into a success。 There is something for everyone throughout the day。 The morning and afternoon crowds come in for their pick-me-ups。 The evening crowd comes in for sweet java and entertainment – Peace Silverton frequently plays a set。 She has even partnered with Clarissa Regis。 The Sweeter Things shops now offer Sweeter Grind, Felicity’s co-branded coffee。 She takes special pride in her fresh roasted beans and the various flavors that she perfects for her drinks。 Customers come back for the TLC she gives to each and every drink and her kind and attentive personality。 Despite all the hard work and success, though, Felicity barely gets by。 It is almost as if she has a hole in her pocket。 Bad luck seems to follow her around, which is why she is reluctant to ask for help。 She bravely faces her hardships alone and head on, dealing with the consequences as they come。 The rumors that circulate around town about her don’t help matters, either。 Felicity knows the nasty things some of the town folks say, and it has taken a hit on her self-confidence when it comes to men。 She has never had a proper boyfriend。 She relies on her girlfriends for companionship – best friend Libby Silverton, Clarissa Regis, and her cousin Ember Gray – but she would never consider turning to them for help from the troubles that she inherited when her father died ten years ago。 Morgan Randall had been trouble, and the addiction he fought had destroyed him。 He finally overdosed, and even thinking about him is emotionally trying for Felicity。 Thanks to him, she faces a bad reputation and endless debt。 The Lockwood Syndicate is alive and well。 Paisley Lockwood’s father had been Morgan’s employer, and now the sociopathic pixie has her sights set on Felicity。 Paisley periodically drops in with her hired muscle, squeezing every last penny from Felicity she can in the name of unspecified debts owed by her father。 For years Felicity has quietly put up with the demands and destruction, too leery of involving anyone in her troubles。 Lately, though, Paisley has upped the pressure。 If Felicity cannot figure out how to satisfy the demands, she and her mother just might end up dead。 Desperate for a solution to the problem, Felicity finally takes a closer look at her father’s death, and the more she looks, the more suspicious it is。 Bad luck of sorts seems to follow both Alaska and Felicity, and it is bad luck that gets them taking a closer look at one another。 Twelve year old Eli plays his part as well。 The adorable father-son duo easily steals hearts, and the competition for bachelors in Heart’s Edge is fierce。 Alaska is new to town, and therefore unaware of Felicity’s reputation。 He sees her without prejudice, which is a novelty for Felicity。 Neither is looking for love。 Alaska’s priority is Eli’s safety and well-being, while Felicity hopes to keep all her friends safely out of the danger that follows her。 Nevertheless, circumstances throw the two together and bring their walls down。 Once Eli takes to Felicity, all bets are off。 As Alaska begins to help Felicity investigate her father’s past, his own past has a way of coming back to haunt him。 The couple eventually finds a happy ending。 Don't forget to download the free flash forward via the link at the end of the book。Fans will appreciate that this book has a slight crossover with the Knights of Dallas series。 Felicity’s mother is retired and lives in Coeur D’Alene。 It is wonderful to see Felicity finally get her HEA。 She and Alaska start out slow, but their chemistry builds as their walls come down。 She is always so positive despite her adversity, and a successful business woman as well。 Her loyalty, independence, and sense of responsibility make her a perfect match for the hard-working single dad。 Alaska understands the long hours she works – he isn’t afraid of hard work himself。 He might be fairly new to town, but he seems to fit right in。 He is a gentle giant and a fabulous father。 His sense of commitment and protectiveness give Felicity exactly what she has needed in her life。 After being raised by an unstable father, his quiet calm makes her feel settled。 Both are stoic figures, standing tall and facing their difficulties without complaint。 Both are quick to sacrifice for the ones they love。 They have also faced bad luck。 Their story is quintessential Heart’s Edge – danger, romance, and lot of local history。 Issues of addiction are briefly touched on, too。A few issues merit mention。 First, there are no ages given for Alaska and Felicity。 We can presume that with a twelve year old, Alaska is at least in his thirties。 As for Felicity, she seems to be a bit older than the other heroines of Heart’s Edge。 Her cousin Ember is younger, but that doesn’t tie down her age。 Holt, who is about forty-one here, had looked up her skirt on the jungle gym when they were kids, so she must be around forty, give or take。 *Spoiler* Additionally, I have to point out that I felt badly for Alaska when Felicity charged him for damage。 It was just as much Mitch’s fault。 The damage, however, should have been entirely Felicity’s responsibility。 It is a cost of doing business, and the consequence of Felicity’s choice of display in addition to her pet policy。 I was cringing while reading as I thought of how badly little Eli would have felt。 Granted the incident advances the story, but it was hard to read。Alaska and Felicity’s story is beautifully written from the beginning to the end。 Here, local girl Felicity from The Nest finally gets her HEA。 Get ready to fall in love with Holt’s foreman, Alaska。 The giant of a man and single father steals Felicity’s heart when he steps in to help her get out of the mire her father left behind。 The plot is very complex。 The characters are carefully crafted。 It is written in first person。 The POV alternates between Alaska and Felicity。 I rate this book 4。5 stars。 I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review。 。。。more

I want MORE of Alaska and Felicity and of course his son Eli。 We met both of them in a previous book, the quiet, gorgeous giant of a man and Felicity, the owner of the coffee shop The Nest, in Hearts Edge。 Felicity has noticed Alaska, who hasn't, especially the single ladies and until a mishap with his son in the coffee shop, Alaska finally notices Felicity as more than the coffee lady。 Now he can't stop thinking about her but she has trouble coming after her and he has to think of his son and n I want MORE of Alaska and Felicity and of course his son Eli。 We met both of them in a previous book, the quiet, gorgeous giant of a man and Felicity, the owner of the coffee shop The Nest, in Hearts Edge。 Felicity has noticed Alaska, who hasn't, especially the single ladies and until a mishap with his son in the coffee shop, Alaska finally notices Felicity as more than the coffee lady。 Now he can't stop thinking about her but she has trouble coming after her and he has to think of his son and not put him in danger as well。。。。unless he can protect them both。Oh man oh man oh man。。。。Alaska is the ultimate book boyfriend, attentive, loving father, hot, kind generous and not a man wh****。。。。。I want an Alaska for myself。 Felicity is no slouch either, always thinking of others and putting them before herself。 Together they make an AMAZING couple and with Eli。。。a family。 LOVED the little to no drama between them, the steam。。。。ahem the steam and of course the suspense。 The story flowed beautifully with descriptions that made me feel like I was right there in the middle of it。。。。。AND let's not forget the epilogue。。。。PERFECT *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and left my honest opinion* 。。。more
